Last April 27, 2005, the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement betweenARCDI and the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD), took place at the UP Chancellor's office in Diliman, Quezon City. Present during the event were UP Chancellor Sergio Cao and ARCDI Chairman Arthur Tan, as main signatories, ARCDI Vice-Chairman Dr. Reynaldo Vea and UPNEC Executive Director Dr. Rowena Guevaraas witnesses.
Also present wereARCDI Executive Director Cesar Quiason, ARCDI Administrative Officer Edith del Rosario, ARCDI Consultant Mr. Celso Co, UPNEC Faculty In-Charge for Professional Engineering Training Division Dr. Andre Publico, and UPNEC Training Specialist Federico Soriano.
Through UP's National Engineering Center (NEC), both parties have jointly agreed to complement each and one another's capabilities and resources in developing, promoting, implementing and sustaining activities, which will help upgrade the engineers' skills in the field of Material Science Engineering as a pilot program.The agreement also includes consultation in developing and organizing a series of Competency Training and Certification Programs and/or MS or PhD courses on Materials Science for the Engineers of SEIPI member companies.
